Why did you join the PTO?
I have been a proud EACS PTO member for 20 years! I am serving as our school’s chair because I want to help ensure that all students have the best school year possible. I’m excited to support creating more activities and opportunities for both students and families, so our school community feels connected and supported.
What do you want the community to know about you?
If I can have fun doing something, that’s the path I’m going to take. I may be in my 50’s but my attitude can sometimes mirror that of a middle schooler. I guess after teaching this grade level for 20 years - well, if you can’t beat them, join them. Outside of school, I’m a proud mom of three adult children—Matthew, Katy, and Nicholas—the true loves of my life. I share my home now with my daughter and our two dogs, Ellie Mae and Lilian Jean, plus two cats, Blaze and Falcon.
What is your goal this year?
My goal this year is to help build community by connecting with students, parents, teachers, and staff, and creating a welcoming environment where everyone feels included and supported.
What is your experience/background?
I have been a mom for 34.5 years and a teacher for 25 years. At EACS, I have served 6 years as the PTO staff representative and 10 years as the APB staff representative. I have A LOT of experience with fundraising, organizing, and having fun.

I will randomly burst out in song (80s songs are my jam) and quote movie lines, especially if it’s one from the Harry Potter movies . . . “Obviously!”

Why did you join the PTO?
I joined the PTO to enhance the school experience for the students, staff, and families of EACS. I understand how important parent involvement is in creating a positive school experience and fostering student success. I believe that building a strong school community goes beyond the classroom, and I wanted to play an active role in strengthening that connection.
What do you want the community to know about you?
I’m a born-and-raised Alaskan with a deep love for exploring our vast state and creating lasting memories with my family. We especially enjoy our time on the Kenai during dipnet season. I’m passionate about embracing and enhancing the community we’re part of—whether it’s through supporting local events or fundraising, connecting with neighbors, or simply enjoying the beauty of the place we live.
What is your goal this year?
This year, my goal with the PTO is to help create clear standard operating procedures and ensure consistent communication. Proper documentation is key to keeping everything running smoothly, and I believe this will help make transitions easier during elections and set a solid foundation for future PTO board members.
What is your experience/background?
My background is primarily in the medical field, where I started as a PCA and later became an administrative assistant at a small clinic. A significant portion of my career was spent working in dialysis, where I truly discovered my passion for building connections, helping others navigate challenges, and serving my community. Just before the pandemic, I made the decision to stay home with my children and prioritize our family. Now I’m grateful to be able to enjoy the best both worlds by working at EACS.

Why did you join the PTO?
As both a parent and a staff member, I felt it was the perfect opportunity to get more involved in the events and programs that make our school community so special. I love the idea of building on what our PTO already does well while also bringing in new ideas to encourage even more parent, staff, and student involvement. Stepping into the treasurer role, I’m excited to help us make the most of our budget so we can stretch every dollar toward fun, meaningful, and welcoming experiences for our students, families, and staff.
What do you want the community to know about you?
I want the community to know that I am a EACS parent first and foremost. I bring both a parent’s perspective and a staff member’s insight, and I’m always eager to listen, share ideas, and work together to make our school the best it can be.
What is your goal this year?
My goal this year is to make the most of our budget so every dollar directly benefits our students and families. I also want to encourage a culture of collaboration where every member feels their voice is heard and valued.
What is your experience/background?
This is my first year on the PTO, but as both a parent and staff member I understand our school from both perspectives. Professionally, I bring experience in finance management and operations, which I believe will be especially helpful in my role as treasurer.

Through the military my family has lived in Alaska for 9 years. My husband and I have two boys, one here at EACS and a three-year-old. Most of my free time is either spent chasing after them or cozying up for a family movie night.
